The department provides teaching of geological and geotechnical subjects – geology, engineering geology, hydromechanics and hydrology, geomechanics, soil mechanics and foundation engineering, foundation structures, underground structures and elective subjects. During their studies, students become acquainted with the rock environment of transportation and environmental structures, its physical and mechanical properties, processes taking place within it, as well as its rational utilisation and protection. The scientific research and professional activities of the department are oriented towards current problems in construction practice, particularly: special geotechnical investigation, design and monitoring of structures in complex engineering-geological environments using new technologies.
