The department educates experts for the needs of highway construction and road management in subjects focused on design work (including the use of specialised software) and traffic engineering (traffic surveys and forecasts, assessment of the capacity of roads and intersections, traffic modelling and simulation), on the environmental aspect of construction and operation of roads (noise, emissions), on construction, reconstruction and maintenance of roads, diagnostics and road management. In research activities, it solves tasks in the field of transportation planning and modelling, traffic engineering, pavement diagnostics, road management, standards development, construction and maintenance technologies including properties of road construction materials.
