Erasmus+ Brings Romanian Students to Žilina

From July 1 to 15, 2025, the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Žilina hosted 42 students and 5 lecturers from the University of Oradea, Romania, within the Erasmus+ programme.

The visitors explored faculty laboratories, tried geodetic measurements with the Department of Geodesy, and discovered science in an interactive way at the MOTIO centre. Beyond campus, they experienced Slovak culture—visiting Budatín Castle, Lietava Castle, Banská Štiavnica, Banská Bystrica, Bratislava, and even the Energylandia theme park in Poland.

Students praised Slovak cuisine (with Kofola as their clear favourite), the friendliness of local people, and the green UNIZA campus. They jokingly called the daily walk uphill from the dormitories their “morning workout,” which became a memorable part of their stay.

The Erasmus+ mobility offered them not only new academic experiences but also valuable cultural insights, and it may inspire them to choose the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Žilina as their future Erasmus destination.
