  Conference Aim

  The conference aims to facilitate the exchange of information and practical experience related to current approaches in the design, construction, and renovation of timber structures. An integral part of the programme will also address topics related to building surveys, diagnostics, and remediation of structural defects.

  
  Conference Topics

     – timber as a building material
     – role of timber construction in sustainability trends and carbon footprint reduction, including related legislation
     – design of timber load-bearing structures and structural engineering challenges
     – timber buildings and fire safety, including legislative developments
     – issues in building physics – single-ply roofs, moisture, thermal protection, etc.
     – numerical analysis of timber structures
     – restoration of timber buildings
     – examples of realised iconic timber structures
     – presentations and networking meetings with companies and industry representatives

  The conference is intended for designers and contractors of timber structures, academic and research staff, PhD candidates, and students of civil engineering and architecture faculties. It is also aimed at teachers at secondary schools specialising in construction, representatives of public administration and local authorities, as well as owners and users of timber buildings.

  
  Conference Proceedings

  The conference output will be electronic proceedings of the presented papers, which will be published on the conference website. Selected submitted papers that successfully pass the peer-review process will be published in the scientific journal of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Žilina – Civil and Environmental Engineering (WoS Q4/Scopus Q3).
