From 27 to 30 May 2026, representatives of the Department of Highway and Environmental Engineering participated in the 9th International Conference on Road and Rail Infrastructure (CETRA 2026), held in the town of Bol on the Croatian island of Brač. The conference is one of the leading professional events focused on road and rail infrastructure. During the conference, two oral presentations were delivered. The first presentation was given in the session Pavement Design and Analysis: From Materials to Performance, with the presented results achieved within the project NextGenerationEU – Recovery and Resilience Plan for Slovakia (No. 09I03-03-V04-00041/2024/VA). The paper authored by Matúš Kováč, Matej Brna and Peter Pisca, entitled Machine-learning-based prediction of skid resistance from 3D pavement surface texture: identifying an effective texture depth, received the Best Paper Award for the best scientific paper presented at the conference. The award was granted in competition with more than 300 participants from 40 countries worldwide, highlighting the high scientific quality of the presented research. The second presentation was delivered by Marek Drličiak in the session Smart and Multimodal Urban Transport: Data-Driven Planning. Participation in the conference provided an opportunity to present research results, establish new professional contacts, and exchange knowledge and experience with researchers and experts from around the world.
