Resistance of composite castellated beams

Head of the project: Ing. Bartuš Jakub

Research team: doc. Ing. Odrobiňák Jaroslav, PhD.

Duration: September 2021 – August 2022

Series of laboratory experiments are proposed. The main purpose is to investigate the bending resistance and the shear flow distribution at steel-concrete interface of the composite castellated beams with asymmetric steel cross-section. Four specimens would be tested. Every specimen would consist of concrete slab and steel beam with web openings. The cross-section of steel element would be welded from two T parts, comprised of different hot-rolled cross-sections halves. The bonding between concrete and steel part would be provided by the shear connectors - headed studs. Load would be applied gradually in the form of 4-point flexure test procedure. The deformation parameters would be measured with strain gauges. For results validation, the finite numerical model would be performed. The results from the experiment and the finite element analysis would be compared. Outcomes from the experiment would be presented in the form of paper in impacted scientific journal and at conference, as well.
