Building Steel Structures

Head of the project: prof. Ing. Bujňák Ján, CSc.

Research team: doc. Ing. Brodňan Miroslav, PhD.

Duration: January 2013 – December 2014

Integration to the common European research and education area originated profound modifications in design philosophy of building constructions. Professional books and manuals used up to now were devaluated due to introduction of common Eurocodes. Even this is reason for elaboration of new publication of textbook nature, usable as well in design practise. After a review of theoretical background, actual design procedures of structural elements and parts according to common already one year valid Eurocodes, which had substituted national standards would be illustrated. Detaisl would be given on industrial halls conception, multi-storey and high buildings design, space large span constructions, suspended and cable-stayed systems, towers and posts. Special structural systems like silos and tanks as well as unusual conceptions constructions required by development of telecommunication machineries represent innovative fabrication. Professional publications of these kinds, unfortunately containing desperately out of date procedures have existed only in Czech, till now not in Slovak language.
