Durability and sustainability of engineering constructions

Head of the project: doc. Ing. Koteš Peter, PhD.

Research team: prof. Ing. Vičan Josef, CSc., doc. Ing. Odrobiňák Jaroslav, PhD., doc. Ing. Brodňan Miroslav, PhD., Ing. Strieška Miroslav, Ing. Pastorek Filip, PhD.

Duration: January 2017 – December 2018

Structural durability is a very important parameter for design of the engineering constructions and sustainability is very important parameter during construction lifetime. Durability is influenced by the degradation processes in the form of structural steel and reinforcement corrosion caused by the environmental actions within structure lifetime. Those degradation processes and the change of the building material properties are affecting the cross-sectional and structural member resistance and deformation parameters of structure. Sustainability is important from the view of keeping of construction function and minimalizing the expenses of maintenance, repair and reconstruction. The project is focused on the study of the corrosion characteristics of the reinforced and steel bearing structures of engineering constructions to coordinate common research in this field of study and to develop the methodology of design for durability.
