One of the objectives of transportation materplan development untill 2030 is problem to ensure sustainable development of transportation in cities and urban areas. Faculty of Civil Engineering of University of Zilina constantly deals with transportation demand increase in contrast with road network performance. 

Significant activity due to this problematic area is regularly organized international  conference  of TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE IN URBAN AREAS, which is dedicated to transport infrastructure of urban network systems, their capacity analysis, possibilities to model and simulate forecats relations, possibilities of ITS elements application in cities to provide higher performance of the current urban road network, requirements of urban enviromental protection facilities, and to e-mobility implementation.
